No. 2 Carlsbad to No. 5 Mission Hills

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Two of the county’s best meet in a key Lawyer League game. Carlsbad (4-0, 1-0) is led by quarterback Julian Sayin, RB Paulo Burak and Thomas Weirich and WR Josh Davis. LB Anthony Ferrelli anchors the defense. The Lancers, who started with three games against the Southern Section before beating El Camino last week, outscored their opponents 141-38. Mission Hills (3-1, 1-0) is led by quarterback Gunnar Hensley, RB Jaiden Letua and WR Matt Martin. DE Peter Eyabi is a bag machine. The Grizzlies rebounded from a loss to Lincoln to beat La Costa Canyon last week and outscored their opponents 120-50.

Prediction: Carlsbad 21, Mission Hills 20

Granite Hills vs. Otay Ranch

When: 7 p.m. today Eastlake HS

Preview: Granite Hills (2-2) started the season with wins over Poway and Valhalla, but lost to Madison and Eastlake in the past two weeks. Otay Ranch (1-1) hasn’t played for two weeks after beating Madison and losing 29-14 to Helix.

Prediction: Otay Ranch 21, Granite Hills 13

Valhalla to Santana

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Valhalla (1-3) has been outscored 148-6 since an opening week win over Hilltop. Santana (4-0) dominated his opponents 106-62. This is an opening game of the Grossmont Valley League.

Prediction: Santana 35, Valhalla 14

Saint Augustine at Helix

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: St. Augustine (1-3) started off with three losses but faced No.18-ranked El Camino, Oceanside and Santa Margarita in the state, before shutting out Steele Canyon 28-0 last week. The RB Isaiah Pressley is the key to the Saints’ offense. Helix (2-1) defeated Mira Mesa and Otay Ranch before losing 52-0 to Cathedral Catholic last week. Quarterback Ryland Jessee and RB Christian Washington are the keys to the offense.

Prediction: Hélix 28, Saint Augustin 24

Oceanside at # 6 Torrey Pines

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: After losing to San Clemente in the opening week, Oceanside (2-1, 1-0) rebounded to beat St. Augustine and San Marcos in their opening game of the Avocado League. QB Max Mullen threw for 514 yards and 5 touchdowns while WR Blake Heisinger had 8 catches for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns. RB Dayne Morrison has 33 carries for 206 yards. Torrey Pines (2-1, 0-0) started off with a 28-14 loss to No. Cathedral Catholic, but has since beaten Rancho Bernardo and Poway. QB Remi Baere threw for 353 yards. The Falcons use four RBs, led by Dyland Friedland, who has 36 carries for 208 yards.

Prediction: Torrey Pines 28, Oceanside 27

Crawford at Mountain Empire

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Crawford (0-4) was outscored 110-14 and shut out for the past two weeks. The offensive revolves around QB Gavin Nguyen. Mountain Empire (2-1) defeated Maranatha and Mission Bay, but lost to Holtville.

Prediction: Mountain Empire 28, Crawford 14

Coronado in Kearny

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Coronado (3-1) has won three straight wins, edging Sweetwater, El Capitan and Mar Vista 95-53. QB Hudson Herber and RB Zane Delcore lead the offense. while Delcore has 33 tackles. Kearny (0-3) was dominated 103-12.

Prediction: Coronado 41, Kearny 14.

Morse Hill

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: After a pair of losses, Hilltop (1-2) beat Chula Vista two weeks ago. QB Jorge Garcia is the best passer and rusher. Morse (2-1) is attacking on the ground behind Josephate Jordan, who is averaging 7.0 yards on 33 carries, and Damarion Wright, who is averaging 5.9 yards on 38 carries. The Tigers threw just 17 passes.

Prediction: Morse 38, Hilltop 20

Patrick Henry vs. Bonita Vista

When: 6:30 p.m. today, Southwestern College

Preview: Henry (2-2) can score, scoring 147 points behind QB Malachai Ghitman, RB Elijah Lux and Tabais Harris and WR Omar Hammond. Bonita Vista (1-1) won last week, 41-6.

Prediction: Patrick Henry 41, Bonita Vista 21

San Pasqual in the center of the valley

When: 7 p.m., today

Overview: This is for the early control of the Valley League. San Pasqual (3-1) has a trio of 200-yard rushers in QB Danny Davis, Wes Parker and Jose Torres. And Noah Snyder is averaging 10.1 yards on 18 carries. Valley Center (2-2) relies on RB Lucas Sinohiu.

Prediction: San Pasqual 31, Valley Center 24
