Man arrested for impaired driving after multiple wrong-way crashes on Route 8 in Beacon Falls, Seymour – NBC Connecticut


Connecticut State Police have arrested a man for driving under the influence after investigators say he was involved in multiple wrong-way crashes on Route 8 in Beacon Falls and Seymour on Saturday night.

Troopers received multiple 911 calls about a contraflow driver going south on Route 8 in the northbound lanes of the freeway out of Exit 23 in Beacon Falls around 6:20 p.m. State Police reported found the vehicle broken down in the wrong direction just north of exit 22 in Seymour. .

Investigators said the oncoming vehicle was involved in three separate crashes before it broke down in the middle/left lane of the northbound freeway.

The driver of the contraflow vehicle, later identified by authorities as Kevin Reilly, 51, of Seymour, underwent standardized field sobriety tests, which state police said failed. He was taken into custody and taken into custody.

Reilly faces charges of unlawful operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, evasion of responsibility, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and reckless endangerment.

He was given $5,000 bond, released to a sober party and is due in court on June 27.
