This week’s top 25 in Orange County men’s basketball.

BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 25

(Recordings until Monday, May 24)

1. MATER DEI 26-1

Monarchs, who have played more games than any Orange County boys’ basketball team, beat Santa Margarita and Rolling Hills Prep last week to lose to St. John Bosco. Mater Dei won the Trinity League Championship, the Monarchs’ 33rd straight men’s basketball title, and will play in the ICF South Section open division in the playoffs.

2. CAPISTRANO VALLEY 12-2

The Cougars concluded the regular season with wins over Trabuco Hills and Mission Viejo and are South Coast League co-champions with San Clemente. They have a first round pass in the Division 1 playoffs in which they are ranked No.4.

3. FAIRMONT PREP 12-3

The Huskies ended the season with a victory over Capistrano Valley Christian to finish 8-0 in the San Joaquin League. They have a first round in the Division 1 playoffs.

4. SANTA MARGARITA 11-5

The Eagles beat Servite, who lost to Mater Dei in Trinity League games in the final week of the regular season. They finished third in the league. Santa Magarita and Mater Dei were the only Trinity League teams to beat St. John Bosco.

5. LUTHERAN ORANGE 10-6

The Lancers beat the JSerra, which lost to St. John Bosco in the final week of the regular season. They tied with JSerra for fourth place in the Trinity League. Orange Lutheran is the No. 4 seed in Division 2AA.

6. JSERRA 13-11

The Lions beat Servite, who lost to JSerra in the final week of the regular season to tie JSerra for fourth place in the Trinity League. They play Mayfair in the first round of Division 1.

7. FOUNTAIN VALLEY 12-2

Barons finished the regular season with wins over Corona del Mar and Huntington Beach in Wave League games. They won the league championship with a league record 6-0.

8. PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 8-7

Tritons won a San Joaquin League victory over Fairmont San Juan Capistrano, lost a championship game to league champion Fairmont Prep last week and finished second in the league. They will play St. Anthony in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.

9. CAPISTRANO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 10-6

The Eagles finished third in the San Joaquin League after last week’s league wins over Fairmont San Juan Capistrano and St. Margaret’s. They are ranked # 2 in Division 2A.

10. SAN CLEMENTE 12-3

Tritons, South Coast League co-champions with Capistrano Valley, finished the regular season strong with eight wins in their last nine games. The only loss was against Damien, an open division playoff team.
