Connecticut @ Army West Point
Current records: Connecticut 0-3; West Point Army 2-0
What there is to know
The Connecticut Huskies have enjoyed the comforts of home in their last two games, but now they have to hit the road. The Huskies and Army West Point Black Knights will face off in an FBS Independents battle on Saturday at noon ET at Blaik Field at Michie Stadium. UConn is hoping to build on the 22-17 victory they won against Army when they already played in September 2015.
UConn was sprayed by the Purdue Boilermakers 49 to nothing last week. UConn was in a difficult position at halftime, with the score already 35 to zero. One thing that held UConn back was poor play from QB Steven Krajewski, who didn’t have his best game: In addition to not producing a single touchdown, he threw an interception with just 104 passing yards.
Meanwhile, the Black Knights certainly got their fingernails stinging, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers last week. Army quarterback Christian Anderson worked casually for a touchdown and 77 yards on six attempts in addition to picking up 119 rushing yards.
The Huskies need to know they are going to fight an uphill battle given the 34.50 point gap they face. True fans might be the only ones betting on them, currently 0-2 ATS, to cover the spread.
Army West Point’s victory took them to 2-0 while Connecticut’s loss brought them down to 0-3. We’ll see if the Black Knights can add another positive note to their record or if UConn can shake off the loss and take over from the Army West Point stage.
